Friday’s classic tune #9

lords of the underground

To put everyone in a good mood for the weekend, today’s tune is the party classic Funky Child by Lords Of The Underground.  It’s from their 1993 album Here Come The Lords – and I still remember the day I bought this cassette. This was my favourite tune on the album and I’ve been hearing it again a lot lately at shows and on various mix tapes. It’s still bangin!

So take a listen below. And here’s some random info – DoItAll, one of the three members of the group – appeared in the last scene of the last episode of the Sopranos.  He was one of the dodgy guys in the diner that was probably going to wack Tony.  But we don’t know for sure coz the whole thing just went to frikkin black.

Warning: Sopranos spoiler just then.

Til next week.

Thanks for putting the spoiler warning AFTER the spoiler. Now you’ve just ruined a show I’ve been working my way through all the seasons of. Really not cool dude!

As for the tune, yeah this is a banger. I remember you guys getting me their 2nd album for my birthday, I can’t remember what age but it was the one with the ‘surprise’ party in Paul Malones gaff in Kilmainham. Would of liked to see these guys doing better and getting more acknowledgement, but I think the problems was with their record label and it just never happened.
